THE YOUNG ARTISTS NEW YEAR SERIES (more)
The Park Lane Group
provides a prominent platform for outstanding young musicians. The PLG is well-known for adventurous programming and the high
quality of its Young Artists, chosen through exacting auditions. Discerning audiences attend which include
many perceptive music critics, concert promoters and festival organisers. The
concerts are recorded. The list of young artists given these first
opportunities is huge and includes many now well-known names.

AUDITIONS FOR THE
PLG NEW YEAR SERIES 2003
are held in February, March and early April 2002 in the Purcell Room.
ANNIVERSARY AND MEMORIAL CELEBRATIONS
These
PLG celebrations are acclaimed. The
2001/0-2 Season includes events for Miles Davis 75th, Constant
Lambert 50th, Dame Joan Sutherland 75th, Stan Tracey 75th
and Sir Wiliam Walton 100th.
The founding seasons 1956-1960 were given
in Park Lane House, 45 Park Lane, London W1.
Currently, most PLG events are in the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Purcell
Room, Wigmore Hall, Linbury Studio Theatre in the Royal Opera House and in
festivals. (go

A major aspect of PLG policy is its continuing programme of
premieres and commissions. Featured
Composers are regularly part of the New Year Series. (go back)
In its
fifth year, the PLGs annual Young Composers Symposium in the Foyer of the
Queen Eizabeth Hall, is held in close collaboration with the eleven composition departments of the

The
PLG conceives and organises unusual and pioneering large-scale events: Sixteen Steinway grand pianos, conductor Sir
Colin Davis, celebrated the Groups 25th anniversary; all-day Summer
Organ Festivals; Wagners Ring Cycle on video in the Queen Elizabeth Hall;
all-day Sing with Royal Opera! at the Barbican; the Complete Mozart String
Quartets in one day; pilot tours which led to the Arts Council Contemporary
Music Network. (go back)
THE FRIENDS
OF THE PARK LANE GROUP (more)
The Friends have a strong interest in the PLGs work and
want these activities maintained and developed. Being a Friend of the PLG
brings good privileges. The suggested annual donation is 25 for one person and
40 for Joint Friends. The extremely simple Gift Aid scheme vastly
increases
the value of each donation. (go back)
THE
FINANCIAL CHALLENGE (more)
The
vision of the Park Lane Group is clear. As money must be raised for each PLG
event, the challenge is finding the money to make these brilliant events
happen. With its charitable status, the
PLG is looking to the very widest sponsorship opportunities.
A
Company, by its support, can share in the PLGs prestige and can play host to
musical evenings;
Every
single donation can help transform funding for a particular event and can be
boosted by Gift Aid.
TRUSTS
and FOUNDATIONS
Trusts
and Foundations can provide direct funding for PLG projects. (go back)
PLG
events are regularly attended by a wide range of music critics from the
national newspapers, resulting in a wealth of perceptive press reviews
PLG
JAZZ ALIVE and SOPHISTICATED LADIES
