AGE LIMIT at the date of the audition                                                                                  

Soloists and Duos, including Accompanists: each artist 29 years

Ensembles of three or more: the average age must be not more than 29.

 

AUDITIONS VENUE/DATE : Southbank Centre’s Purcell Room, 10 February-15 March 2010

If selected, you will be sent during February a list of exact available dates and times.                                                     

If selected for audition, you will be requested to make a contribution to audition expenses:  

£23 for solo/duo, £34.50 for trios, £46 for quartets, etc.

 

AUDITION REPERTOIRE : Three contrasting works are requested

Please make certain that these differ in style, atmosphere and tempo.

And in period:   

One standard repertory (classical/romantic/early 20th century);      

One mid-20th century or contemporary;.                                                                           

One post-1975 and preferably as contemporary as you wish.                                                                                     

For these auditions, concertos and operatic extracts are not suitable.

Nor, for practical reasons, are works with recorded music and electronics.

 

ON THE DAY : The Audition Panel will decide which of these to hear.  

The audition will last between 10 and 15 minutes.  We do not need to know in advance which pieces you will perform but we rely on you to provide contrast as stated above.

 

OTHER AUDITIONS if you are applying as a soloist

You may also apply as a member of a duo and/or other ensembles.  

If so, separate applications are necessary.

but we may consider applications after that date.

 

NON-BRITISH ARTISTS IN THE NEW YEAR SERIES 2010 are welcome

but must be resident in the UK for the full Academic Year 2010/11 (holidays apart).
